A CONFIDENT TRUST

Devotional : A Confident Trust | Luke‬ ‭8‬:‭41‬-‭42‬, ‭48‬-‭50‬ ‭AMP‬‬

(41) Now a man named Jairus, a synagogue official, came [to Him]; and he fell at Jesus’ feet and began begging Him to come to his house;

(42) for he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying. But as Jesus went, the people were crowding against Him [almost crushing Him].

(48) He said to her, “Daughter, your faith [your personal trust and confidence in Me] has made you well. Go in peace (untroubled, undisturbed well-being).”

(49) While He was still speaking, someone from the synagogue official’s house came and said [to Jairus], “Your daughter is dead; do not inconvenience the Teacher any further.”

(50) But Jesus, hearing this, answered him, “Do not be afraid any longer; only believe and trust [in Me and have faith in My ability to do this], and she will be made well.”

‭‭

Here is an extremely important lesson that illuminated as I spent devotional time with the Lord this morning.

These are very familiar verses of scripture hidden within the most encouraging story of the woman with the issue of blood.

It’s so easy to be hyper-focused on one point and miss all of the spiritual keys buried to be uncovered in the Word.

Before the introduction of the woman with the issue of blood for 12 years, we are first presented with Jairus the synagogue official whose daughter was dying.

And as we know along the way the woman with the issue of blood got her breakthrough and healing first… we notice that Jesus stops to address the virtue and healing that went out of Him during that encounter with her.

Many along the way have said and I’m sure have thought it was a more pressing matter at hand why did Jesus stop to address this and why did He take so long knowing that Jairus’s daughter was hanging in the balance of death…

The Chief Teacher was teaching both Jairus and the woman with the issue of blood different yet interchangeable lessons.

After revealing to the woman with the issue of blood the exact reason she was healed we now see someone from Jairus’s house informing him not to inconvenience Jesus any longer because his daughter was indeed dead.

But what Jesus said next is a lesson that we can apply to EVERYTHING from this point forward.

Jesus heard this informant and responded with “Do not be afraid any longer; only believe and trust [in Me and have faith in My ability to do this], and she will be made well.”

Sometimes in our own lives, it’s not a human informant that’s speaking death concerning our situation it could be the reality of the situation and circumstance that takes on the role of the informant intending to convince us not to inconvenience Jesus any longer…

So by comparison let’s look at why Jairus’s daughter was healed. This is the same pattern we see Jesus using with the issue of blood but applied slightly differently. With the woman first came healing then revelation. With Jairus first came revelation of strategy and then healing proceeded.

For Jairus’s daughter to be healed here were Jesus’ instructions to him:

  1. No fear

  2. Belief (confidence)

  3. Trust in Jesus

  4. Have faith in Jesus’ ability to heal

Many of us miss breakthrough because we do not apply or have not effectively applied the revealed strategy that Jesus the GREATEST of ALL gave to Jairus that is also readily available and accessible to us.

A confident trust in Jesus with unwavering faith no matter who or what the informant is, is the spiritual key to BREAKTHROUGH.

Confidently trusting in our Triune God is a multifaceted assignment that must meet several components for breakthrough to break forth.

I want to point out that not only did Jairus have to believe and trust in Jesus he also had to have faith that Jesus had the ability to raise his daughter back to life.

We see so clearly that we can master one component of trusting in God and lack others that inevitably hinder the move of God that we’ve been praying for.

Today’s reading is a reminder that ALL power in both heaven and earth has been given to our Lord and Savior and it is He who makes intercession on our behalf before the throne of God contending for His will to be done in our lives…

Can you just CONFIDENTLY TRUST HIM!?

Until next read

Waiting well,
