From milk to MEAT

During our Command The Morning: Frame Your Word prayer zoom last week, we studied and prayed from Matthew 3:8.

Our new life in Christ should exemplify the fruit of repentance spoken of in our focus scripture that was further outlined in 2 Corinthians 7:8-11, with emphasis on verses 10 & 11 which read:

10: “For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.”

11: “For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter.”

Living a life of repentance is not merely apologizing to God day after day as you’ve allowed yourself to partake of sinful, unholy and ungodly behavior.

A changed mind should produce a change in actions!

As 2 Corinthians outlines the fruit produced from a lifestyle of repentance we took time to breakdown what they terms meant to further glean and rightly divide the scriptures.

Ultimately we realized that the fruitfulness of repentance should produce in us at the very least these 7 things.

1. A careful and persistent effort to not only honor but fulfill the will of God.

2. Readiness to defend our beliefs opposing all sinful behaviors and practices as God would have it. Unwilling to allow sin to ruin the reputation of our witness.

3. Indignation targeted at ourselves against any seed, residue or influence of sin/sinfulness.

4. Vehement desire to be HOLY AS HE IS HOLY!

5. Wholehearted zealousness to love what God loves and to hate what He hates.

6. Spiritual vindication when we’ve identified sin within us by making things right, denying our flesh, mortifying the lusts and desires, truly committing to being a live sacrifice unto God holy and acceptable.

7. Spiritual fruit that is not simply identified internally but also produces an outward manifestation revealing and representing a changed mind accompanied by changed actions.

Our fidelity to God requires full persuasion that NOTHING can cause us to forfeit Jesus as our inheritance!
